Poem for Angel

I was looking back through emails and found this poem. Each time a waiting child is matched with their forever family, the wonderful folks at Children's House International (CHI) adoption agency write a poem for that child. Angel's "alias" name on the CHI list was Dawn. Here is her poem.

The Day Dawn is Breaking!

The nighttime was dark
Heavily curtained in blackish blue
But then Dawn appeared
And that darkness withdrew

She is the first light of morn
When horizons turn dappled reds
And shadows cast a dimmer hue
Over tassled hair in slumbering beds

"Awake, Arise, the world is NEW!"
Is the cry that breaks the silence
The solitary gray slips away
Replaced instead by color's triumph.

Reds, yellows, purples and pinks
The pallet of the days new glory
Warmth, joy, peace and love
Become the theme of hope's new story.

Dawn is coming, Dawn is coming!!
The shouts of welcome rise in chorus
We will wait in anxious vigilance
Until in person she radiates before us.
