Surgery day

Before the "happy juice"
Today we arrived at Wolfson Childrens Hospital at 6:15 to check in for Angel's surgery. When in the holding area waiting to go back, they gave her some 'happy juice' which made her really 'out of it'. She said a few funny things, like "Mom, I need to go to the Emergency room." and upon looking around the little bed they had her on, "Mom, we are missing something" presumably thinking she was at home and where were her stuffed animals.
After "happy juice"

The surgery started about 8:30 and lasted a little more than 4 hours. The doctor came out to talk to me and said she did great. He was able to get a good amount of bone for the gum line. They told us that she would be in room 611 so we went up.
In the room
Mom, Melissa and Jennifer were there and we found the room and waited for her to arrive. Soon she was wheeled into the room and looked like she didn't feel good at all. She was asking for something to drink so I gave her some gatorade. After a few drinks, she made a funny face and I knew it was all about to come back up and it did. The nurses came in to check on her and said to let gave her a med through her IV for the nausea.

After a little while, they brought her dinner. I gave her a little bit of chicken broth and 7up, but after a couple of minutes it came back up as well. So they gave her a stronger med for nauseu. She didn't eat or drink anything else that night but did have IV giving her fluids.

She had some visitors too. Rae Rae and Hua Hua came by and brought her a present. Angel was pretty much out of it but we appreciaited the visit.

Later Gigi and Sullivan stopped by. They were actually there when she got sick the second time. They brought some goodies, balloons, a rose. Chuck, Gigi's husband, also stopped by and brought me a cheeseburger for dinner. A lifesaver!

Barb, Emma and Ellie stopped by later too. They brought a huge spiderman balloon and a Get Well balloon. We really appreciate all the visits.

Tuesday Angel slept quite a bit and watched a little bit of tv. Santa, Mrs. Claus and an Elf came by also and brought her a stuffed animal. One of the hospital ladies also brought her a coloring book and a Build a Bear kit. She was able to keep liquids down but didn't really drink much. Whe the doctor came by at 5ish, he recommended she stay another night so she could take in more liquids. While we were a bit disappointed, I think it was a good move. I really pushed her to drink more.

Wednesday morning, the doc came by around 9:00 and said she was ready to go. We were both so happy. We got home around 12 and got her settled in.

She's been going strong every since.

Abi came by to visit too.

Thanksgiving Day

Although we missed our NC family and friends, we had a great Thanksgiving. We started with a 1 mile fun run. Josh didn't join us for this (smart boy :) ) but it was fun to see so many people out running. Our friend Raina, her 4 kids and her nanny was with us. Raina and her oldest daughter Halia ran the 6K while the rest of us ran the 1 mile fun run. Raina and Halia made awesome time on their event! All the kids did a great job.

Later Angel and I met up with Jennifer and her parents for lunch at Mimi's. Josh headed over to see his Dad.

Later we headed to St. Augustine with Melissa and her kids to see the Light Of Nights and ride the Trolley. The trolley is adorned with lights and Christmas carols are being played. We are driven around St. Augustine to see the million plus lights that decorate the city. This is becoming a great holiday tradition for us. We really enjoy doing this.
