Getting BIG and gymnastics

Angel went for a physical today. Her measurements are:

Weight - 38.2 pounds
Height - 40.5 inches

I was surprised at the weight - she gained more than I thought she had. She got a good report but did need one shot and she did not even cry!!!

She had her second gymnastics class tonight. Here is a picture of Angel in her leotard. I tried taking pix at the gym, but they were too dark.

Dragon Boat Festival

Today we celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with our FCC group. It was great, the kids painted and sailed their boats, and later played at the splash playground nearby.

The Gymnast

Tonight Angel had her "trial" gymnastics class. One of her good friends takes gymnastics and I have been thinking about letting her try it for a while. She is so energetic and strong, I thought she would love gymnastics - and she DID. They did all sorts of different things, from flipping to walking the beam. I was really impressed on how much they covered in an hour. Of coure, she wants to continue the lessons so we will be back next Monday!!
I forgot the camera but will surely remember it next week.

Today we went to see Emma dance in her recital. The entire recital was wonderful - some very talented dancers. Emma did great - I am so glad we could share this time with her.

Angel graduates PreK

Today Angel had her graduation from PreK. It was a very nice ceremony, each class sang a song, flowers were presented to the teachers and the students received their "diploma". I can't believe she will be going to kindergarten this year!!

Almost in High School

Tonight was Josh's award ceremony and 8th grade celebration. I can't believe he will be in high school next year. The time has flown by - it seems like he just started Kindergarten. It is definitely bitter-sweet. We are so blessed to live in a great area of town where the teachers are great. They put on a real nice celebration.

Our weekend

Well the weekend started with Josh going to his 8th grade dance. His Dad came over and picked him and two of his friends up and took them to the dance. I picked them up when the dance was over at 9:30 and they wanted to go meet some of their friends at a restaurant for the "After Party". I'm like, what do 8th graders know about an After Party? But we went for a little while and all the kids sat together. It was cute.

Saturday was spent at Adventure Landing Water Park. We were there for about 6 hours swimming and playing. We hung out with some friends and Angel played with another little girl from China. Josh took a friend with him and we all had a great time. We were pooped when we got home and spent the evening watching a movie. Finally, Angel announced that she was tired. That is not something I hear very often.

Sunday afternoon, we went to a local baseball game with some friends. Josh's dad joined us as well. It is the local Double A league that feeds into the Dodgers. It was hot but started to cool down when some storms came by, actually passing by us and not disturbing the game, but cooling things down dramatically. All the kids got a free full size bat and after the game, the kids all got a chance to run the bases. Angel took off and never looked back. One of the players signed the kids bats upon leaving the ballpark. These games are so much fun and they do so much for the kids.
