Saturday we celebrated Chinese New Year with our local FCC group. It was a lovely event, including professional photography, children's crafts, a silent auction to raise money for two great causes, a buffet. We were also entertained by some of the children from the FCC group with dancing. And last but not least was the lion dance. They did a wonderful job. But the children seemed to have the most fun at the end when they were let loose to run wild for a few minutes on the stage. All that pent up energy had to come out somehow. Angel did well all in all, but could not understand why I did not give her the handful of glow necklaces that were part of the raffle ticket sales that I was volunteering for. It is not like she did not already have two of them around her neck. Aside from that, she did great and seemed to have a great time.

New park discovery!!
Today I found a lovely park pretty close to our house. I had heard that this was a beautiful place but had not visited it before. It is right on the river and makes for some lovely pictures. It used to be an orange grove farm and the old farmhouse and orange barn are being restored. It also has a great playground area. Angel made a little friend there and had a great time. We will definitely be visiting this place again. I love how they tie the orange grove theme into the playground area.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR
or Gung Hay Fat Choy. We want to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rat. We did not get to celebrate today since Angel had a medical procedure at the hospital. She needed quite a bit of dental work and the dentist thought it best to sedate her for the procedure. Needless to say, our day started super early. All went well and she seems to be back to normal, pretty much. Thanks to all who were sending prayers our way.

Read, read, read!!
Today we visited the library. Angel checked out a few books and was really excited to be able to pick out the books she wanted. This is the first time we have actually had her check out books, not sure why. I guess because we have so many books at home that were her brothers and that our friends and family have been so generous to give her. I do hope she enjoys reading as much as I do. I was able to find a book that my adoption book club will be reading in a couple of months. I am looking forward to being more involved in the book club this year.
It's ponytail time!!
