Weekend

What a great and busy weekend! Friday night we went to watch Ellie play basketball and then had dinner together. Both Emma and Ellie are getting so grown!!

Saturday Angel had Chinese lessons, then her last basketball game. She scored 4 baskets! She really excels at this sport.

Later that evening I hosted book club at my house. Angel went to Raina's house and ended up having a sleep over. The book club was lots of fun and informative. Great friends, conversation, food...

Sunday I went to church, then picked Angel up to go buy soccer cleats and a ball. Once we got back to our area, we went to Raina's neighborhood and all the kids played together for a couple of hours, soccer and baseball mostly.

Later in the evening, Josh, Angel and I went to Donovans for dinner. Pretty good food.

Chinese New Year in Angel's classroom

Today Angel and I presented to her classroom for Chinese New Year. Actually Angel did most of the talking, which was great! I am glad that she has so much confidence. We prepared little treat bags for each kid that had a couple of crafts, a pencil, eraser, lai see envelope, some candy.

We also showed a DVD that I got from Panda Express that talked about CNY. We also had several handouts to share.

Finally we passed out chopsticks and cotton balls and the kids practiced using the chopsticks.

Angel also taught them several phrases in Chinese as well as counting to 10.

Happy Chinese (Lunar) New Year

Today was Chinese New Year so I gave Josh and Angel their red envelopes (hóng bāo)with money. It is a tradition for parents and grand parents to give their kids money in red envelopes for cny. 2011 is the year of the Rabbit.
